On July 28, 2017 at 21:41 local time, the Soyuz MS-05 takes off into the night sky over Kazakhstan. On board are the cosmonaut Sergei Ryazansky and the two astronauts Paolo Nespoli and Randy Bresnik. At T + 01: 54.16 a jolt goes through the rocket; the four burned out booster are thrown off. At T + 02: 37.48, from a height of about 80 kilometers, the fairing is blown off; Now the astronauts can see the curvature of the earth from the portholes of the capsule. Just over 6 minutes later, the Soyuz burned out. The astronauts are weightless and are in Earth orbit. In six hours they will dock at the International Space Station ISS, where their actual mission begins.

In the exhibition “Your Trip to Space” at FANTASY BASEL – The Swiss Comic Con, the Swiss Space Museum is showing exclusively for the first time in public, original flown parts of the Soyuz MS-05 and other exhibits of current space travel. There, you will also learn more about the life and work of the astronauts on the International Space Station ISS and, thanks to Virtual Reality, can float around on board of the space station.
