Royd Tolkien was born in London in 1969 and is the great-grandson of J.R.R. Tolkien. The Englishman grew up in the Tolkien clan and knows not only the world – famous works of his great – grandfather inside out, but also the appropriate anecdotes and stories about them. His passion for the works of his great-grandfather led Royd to meet the creator of the film, Peter Jackson, and eventually play in the final episode of Jackson’s trilogy. In 2012, he appeared with his brother and Peter Jackson in an Air New Zealand security video produced as part of a major global promotion of the movie “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”. Royd also made a cameo appearance in the extended edition of the movie “The Hobbit: Smaugs Wasteland”.
